Poor Road Conditions in Akuajoo, Nkawkaw Raise Concerns Among Residents.
Residents of Akuajoo, a suburb of Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region, are calling for urgent attention to their deteriorating road network, as recent images highlight the harsh realities of living in the area.
The community’s roads remain largely untarred, dusty, and uneven, making movement difficult for both pedestrians and motorists. Deep erosion paths, loose stones, and poorly formed drainage systems are evident, raising concerns about safety, especially during the rainy season when the situation is expected to worsen.
Despite the presence of electricity and ongoing daily activities, including trading and schooling, the poor state of the roads continues to affect productivity and quality of life. Residents are often seen walking long distances on rough paths, navigating through dust and mud.

Local structures, including homes and small businesses, line the roads, reflecting a vibrant but underserved community. While some buildings show signs of age with rusted roofing, others display creativity and resilience, such as painted walls and makeshift shops that support local livelihoods.
Community members are appealing to the Municipal Chief Executive who's also Chairman of the New Democratic Congress (NDC) member of Nkawakw Municipality, Hon. Tamimu Halidu, Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw Constituency, Hon Joseph Frimpong of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwahu West Municipal Assembly and relevant authorities to prioritize road development in Akuajoo.
They believe that improving the road network will not only enhance transportation but also boost economic activities and overall living conditions in the area.
As development continues in other parts of Nkawkaw, residents of Akuajoo hope their community will not be left behind.
