Man Found Dead in Room After Three Days in Nkawkaw Akuajoo.
A man believed to be between 55 and 60 years old has been found dead inside his room after reportedly spending about three days there without being seen, in Nkawkaw Akuajoo, Eastern Region of Ghana.
The deceased, popularly known as “Opainter”, was well known in the community for his work as a painter, a profession he had practiced for many years.
According to some tenants who lived in the same house, Opainter had suffered a leg injury about one year and four months ago while working.
He reportedly received treatment at a hospital at the time, although some tenants said he had to be encouraged or persuaded to seek medical attention.
After receiving treatment, his condition reportedly improved, and for approximately eight to nine months, he was said to have regained his strength and continued with his usual work.
However, residents reportedly noticed that he had developed a problem with the same leg again a few weeks before his death.
Because he did not reportedly present the condition as serious or inform the other tenants about any major difficulty, they did not pay much attention to it.
The shocking discovery came after residents began noticing a strong unpleasant odour coming from the house.
According to accounts from residents, children who were playing inside the house noticed a large number of flies around the deceased man's window and complained to their parents about the unusual smell.
The residents subsequently checked the room and discovered that Opainter had died inside. He was reportedly believed to have been dead for about three days before his body was discovered.
On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the body was reportedly removed from the house and taken to the mortuary by the relevant authorities while investigations continued.
The incident has been reported to the Nkawkaw Police, who are said to be investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
