The current state of Nkawkaw New Station will blow your mind after heavy rain falls on the 7th of October, 2025, leaving traders, passengers, drivers, and people living around very stranded as the station turns into a river.
The rainstorm this afternoon revealed the station's inadequate drainage, muddy conditions, and the difficulty commuters and traders faced in attempting to carry out their daily tasks amid the confusion. This has become a real challenge whenever it rains.
Below shows the current condition of Nkawkaw New Station in the Kwahu West Municipal District in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
It always used to be a bustling travel hub, but nowadays, if it starts to rain, it becomes a sight of confusion and pain to traders, people living around, and drivers who work there.
This has made the station masters, on behalf of their drivers, traders, and residents, there to conduct an immediate call for the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources to come to their aid to resolve the actual cause of this flood at the station.
Although the main cause of this severe flood at the station has not yet been determined, traders and locals have reported that it was caused by improper dumping that some drivers and food vendors refused to do inside the station. As a result, many of the station's gutters became clogged, making it difficult for water to flow freely through them.
Some people also disclose that a small river close to the station is obstructed by a large amount of trash and other objects thrown by some unidentified locals, preventing the river from flowing smoothly in the direction it should.
