Akuajoo Road Crisis Triggers Political Debate over MCE and MP Performance in Nkawkaw.
Concerns over poor road conditions in Akuajoo, a suburb of Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region, continue to intensify following a recent publication highlighting the area’s worsening “Harmattan Dust Crisis.”
The report drew attention to the dusty and deteriorating roads that have become a daily burden for residents, especially during the dry season.
According to locals, the situation has not only made transportation difficult but has also exposed residents to serious health risks due to constant dust pollution.
Many residents are therefore calling for urgent intervention to address the road network and improve living conditions in the community.
The issue has since taken a political turn after a social media user identified as GH Painkiller reacted in the comment section under the post.
GH Painkiller: "Why always the mce is doing better things done the mp in nkawkaw"
In his remark, he questioned why the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Tamimu Halidu, who also serves as the Chairman of the New Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nkawkaw Municipality, appears to be more proactive in delivering development projects in Nkawkaw Municipality than the area’s Member of Parliament, Hon. Joseph Frimpong, who's the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for the Nkawkaw Constituency.
His comment has sparked mixed reactions online, with some users supporting his observation while others urged caution, emphasizing the need for cooperation between both political leaders regardless of party differences.
The discussion has since evolved into a broader debate about leadership effectiveness, accountability, and the responsibilities of local government officials.
Observers note that while the MCE and MP represent different political parties, residents are more concerned about results than political affiliations.
Many believe that collaboration between Hon. Tamimu Halidu and Hon. Joseph Frimpong is crucial to addressing pressing issues such as road construction and infrastructure development in Akuajoo and beyond.
As public pressure continues to mount, residents remain hopeful that the attention generated, both from the initial report and the subsequent online debate will lead to swift action and long-term solutions to improve the road conditions in the area.
