A distress call about a fire outbreak at Kwahu-Abetifi was received by the Mpraeso Fire Station at 00:38 a.m. on November 11, 2025.
The firefighters team, led by Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO) Amoako, arrived immediately after the distress call to find a wooden structure engulfed in flames with thick smoke filling the night air between two buildings and residents gathered on the left side of the compound or street observing the incident.

The fire was brought under control by 1:12 a.m. and completely extinguished by the Mpraeso Fire Station crew by 1:20 a.m. No casualties were reported, and the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Eastern Regional Command reported 749 fire outbreaks in 2024 (an increase from 600 in 2023) for the region, though not all in Abetifi. In the first three-quarters of 2025, the region recorded 529 fire incidents, with property damage estimated at over GH₵43.5 million.
