 Clara Amoateng Benson, a Ghanaian rising young Kumawood actress and brand ambassador also known by her stage name Maame Serwaa, was born on August 19, 2000 in Kumasi, a city in Ghana's Ashanti Region, and raised by her parents, Rose Amoateng Benson and Opanyin Kwabena Nyame, in the Christian religion with two brothers, according to research.

Her parents discovered she was highly interested in acting at a young age, so they pushed her to pursue her ambitions, and she initially rose to popularity in the Ghana Movie Industry in the city of Kumasi as a child actor, demonstrating her outstanding acting talents in Ghanaian movies.


Maame Serwaa began her acting career at the age of six (6 years) and has since acted in various films, accumulating over 10 years of experience in the Ghanaian film industry, giving her a significant advantage in the sector.


Maame Serwaa is one of the 422,946 final-year junior high school students of Mount Hermon School who sat for the 2014 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

She got featured in Ghanaian movies like Fakye, Tumi Mu Tumi, School Girl, Azonto Twins, Ahonhom Bone, Mprewa Nyinsen and Jerusalem House when she was fourteen years (14yrs) old and all these movies got all trends from all corners in Ghana because of her impressive acting in it.


According to information, things were hard for her when her 2014 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) were nearly to start because she was doing acting and at the same time taking learning at school. So she took a two-month break from acting to prepare well for her final exams as she started the final exams on Monday, June 16th and wrote her last paper on Friday, May 20th.


There are rumors on the internet suggested that, Maame Serwaa, couldn't get better grades in her Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), hence, she couldn't get admission into any of the A-list secondary schools in Kumasi, so she went for a re-sit for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to better her grades for possible admission into A-list secondary schools in Kumasi.


Dominic Amponsah, the manager of actress Maame Serwaa came out in an exclusive interview and said that, all these rumors are not true about her actress and her actress got admission at the Serwaa Nyarko Girls' Senior High School and even some senior high schools in Kumasi have called them to give his actress admission but they politely turned them down.


He continued to explained that, he is planning with his actress parent to change her school from Kumasi to another city to avoid temptation of her actress being called by other filmmakers for jobs after classes so that her actress can study and learn well but because of the rumors going on the internet they will know what to do.


So actress Maame Serwaa continued her senior high level education in 2014 at the Serwaa Nyarko Girls' Senior High School, all female secondary education institution in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana and completed there in 2017.


She was then awarded a four-year degree scholarship to study at the Knutsford University College located in East Legon, Accra in the same year and completed there. She is currently the brand ambassador of the college.


Her talent and dedication have been recognized by Ghanaian's with prestigious awards, as she first won an award as Kumawood Best Actress of the Year 2015 and in 2018.


She signed a five-year management deal with Silvanus Records and she was featured in BBC Africa’s documentary on the Thriving Ghanaian Movie Industry which highlighted Benson’s success in the same year and further solidifying her status as a rising star in the entertainment industries in the world.  She also won an award as Ghana Tertiary Awards Best Actress of the Year 2018.

In 2019, Kumawood actress Clara Benson sparked controversy in the video as she is seen with a new haircut that looks like a bob wig flaunting her tattoo and huge melons growing in an extra large body. While some complimented her new looks, others felt she went overboard.
