On September 16th, 2022, the Police arrested the chief of Sefwi Elubo and his brother over illegal mining activities in Sefwi Elubo township and six others in connection with the illegal mining in the Western North Region.
Nana Anini Bafour, the chief of Sefwi Elubo and his brother Kwadwo Affi were arrested by the police on the 16th of September, 2022 over illegal mining activities in their townships on a viral video and photos which is circulating on social media platforms showing illegal mining activities in some compound houses of Sefwi Elubo.
The investigation has so far discovered a lot of dug-out pits in some compound houses in the township of Sefwi Elubo which uncovered living fear and panic among the people of Sefwi Elubo.
Police got noticed when one resident of Sefwi Elubo took a video and photos of some of the dug-out pits and posted them on social media platforms seeking help where it gets viral and reached them.
They also follow the video and the photos in their investigation where it was revealed that Nana Anini Bafour, the chief of Sefwi Elubo and his brother Kwadwo Affi and six other suspects are the main people behind the illegal mining activities which are going on in their township.
According to a report from the Police, these two suspects have been arrested to face justice and the other six investigations continue so that anyone who is involved in this will also face justice.
