Today's article talks about Green Jatropha, what it is and diseases it can cure.
Before I start, let me define what Green Jatropha is;
This is a species of flowering plant in the spurge family, Euphorbiaceae, that is native to the American tropics mostly and likely in Mexico and Central America, which is commonly known by a lot of people as Jatropha Curcas, locally known as Nkanadwea which originally reached a height of 6m usually used to cure

This is a deciduous tree which normally shed its leaves during the dry season. Its dry fruits contain about thirty-eight per cent (38%) husks and sixty-two per cent (62%) seeds.
The seeds look like castor seeds in shape and are black. It consists of thirty to forty per cent (30-40%) tests (shells) and sixty to seventy per cent (60-70%) kernels.
Jatropha Curcas is a multiple-purpose plant with potential for biodiesel production and medicinal uses. It has been used for the treatment of a wide spectrum of ailments related to skin, cancer, digestive, respiratory and infectious diseases.
It's originally native to the tropical areas of America from Mexico to Argentina and has been spread throughout the world in tropical and subtropical regions around the world, becoming naturalized or invasive in many areas.
Jatropha Curcas was first used by Portuguese doctor Garcia de Orta more than four hundred (400yrs) years ago. It contains compounds such as trypsin inhibitors, phytate, saponins and a type of lectin known as curcumin.
Its seeds can be processed to produce high-quality biodiesel fuel, usable in a standard diesel engine. Its edible varieties can also be used for animal feed and food. Nutrients like alkaloids can be found in Jatropha Curcas effectively.
