On the 16th of January, 2023, Ras Nene stated in an exclusive interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso, a professional known as Delay on Delay TV that when he was younger, he resided in Tafo, one of Kumasi's most well-known settlements with his Aunt who had a bar.
He revealed that his Aunt always leave her shop, where she served customers cigarettes and alcoholic beverages, for him to take over at the age of eight years (8yrs) old so that she could run errands. As a result, he began observing the adults who were smoking cigarettes and drinking alcoholic beverages at his aunt's shop, and eventually, he started doing the same.
According to Nene, once the people at his Aunt's shop quit smoking the cigarettes, he picked up their last pieces and began to smoke from their leftovers at one corner of the shop, where he eventually developed an addiction. Later, he met a different young boy who was also addicted to marijuana, and he introduced him to the drug.
He explained to Delay that his lovely mother tried on several occasions to counsel him, but he refused to listen to her and he developed his obstinacy because he was making some money from selling scraps, and his smoking habit made matters worse.
