Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN) is the leading telecommunication network in Ghana having the majority customers.
They have put things together to help their customers and retailers to still maintain on their network, over SIM Card registration update exercises with the Ghana Card starting (1st of October, 2021 and end in March 31st, 2022).
*SIM Registration Update*
I trust you all had a good day. As you are all aware by now, the SIM Registration exercise have begin today (Friday), October 1, 2021 which will end on 31st of March, 2022.
This is a major exercise that will require one to update his or her New and Existing SIM card or SIM cards by the end of March 31st, 2022. We shall be counting on each one of you to ensure a smooth take-off and successful registration update of our entire base.
Permit me to highlight some important developments prepare for this exercise:
Kindly note that in line with NCA directive, all existing and new SIM cards will have to be registered through the new application. As a result, frontline personnel and third party agents will not be able to use thier SIM Base Solution (SBS) and MPOS to activate New SIM card for voice or data.
However for existing SIMs cards, you can use the MPOS to register a new customer for Mobile Money only. This implies that, for Retailers and field teams (Canvassers) to register a new customer for Mobile Money, they need to first register them via the new application and then use MPOS to do the MoMo registration.
Smart devices have been deployed to branches, connect stores and LRS points to start with. It shall due in course deploy to cover other channels. In the interim, their field teams (Canvassers) will engage retailers not to panic but sell their MTN SIM cards to direct customers, and direct the customer to the nearest MTN Branch, Connect Store, or LRS points for assistance.
Some field teams (Canvassers) will be selected by regional teams redeploying to support activities in our key branches nationwide to help in the SIM registration update process.
