Self-acclaimed Dancehall King, Shatta Wale has expressed his openness to working with the organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

The singer was suspended from the VGMA scheme after an incident occurred on the stage of the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, where he had a brawl with dancehall artist, Stonebwoy. After that the two were sent to court and both were suspended from the award scheme for a couple of years.

In a recent interview with Don One on "U Say Weytin", he disclosed that before he will get involved in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards again, the board have to come and have a sit-down conversation with him and find a proper solution to his coming back to the VGMA. He stated that he does not understand why the organizers have not yet made an effort to contact him.

“I feel because they are the ones organizing it, there should be a nice approach to me, ‘Shatta, we want to sit down with you and let you know we are ready with our nomination’ because I have a lot of things I’m doing with my music and business.

“So, at least, they should find somebody from their office to say ‘oh Shatta, are you interested to join this time around, we would like you to come on board, and it will be beautiful”, said by Shatta Wale.

He then called for unity between the organizers and other stakeholders, saying that it is important to come together in order to succeed.

The two-year ban imposed on him and his arch-rival Stonebwoy was lifted in 2021, allowing Stonebwoy to participate in the subsequent edition.

However, Shatta Wale has yet to make his submissions due to certain reasons. He urged the organizers to reach out to him in a respectful manner and let him know that they are ready to start the nomination process.

He also suggested that the organizers should make the process more transparent and accessible to all stakeholders.

He believes that by doing so, the awards will become more credible and attract more attention.
